The Challenge

Women in media have long been portrayed through narrow, unrealistic beauty standards—young, slim, white, and airbrushed. Despite growing demand for authentic representation, traditional media was slow to change, leaving visuals outdated even as searches for ‘real bodies’ and ‘unfiltered’ surged by over 200%.

The Solution

We created The No Apologies Collection, a bold, unfiltered celebration of real women. Focused on unique beauty, inclusive fashion, sex and intimacy, and women’s health, it challenged outdated beauty standards with raw depictions of body positivity and self-expression.

With Refinery29’s millennial and Gen-Z audience demanding change, the collection provided brands and media with the tools to redefine representation. The conversation continued beyond the images - fuelling dialogue across social platforms, creator channels, and Refinery29’s community.

Stories and experiences were shared across Refinery29, creator platforms, and by featured talent - sparking dialogue around beauty standards, authenticity, and representation.
